The 7th Lujiazui Legal Forum took place at Shanghai International Convention Centre on 20 November 2015. Featuring the theme “Legal Services for the Promotion of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, the Forum was co-organized by the Hong Kong Bar Association, the Shanghai Bar Association, Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, East China University of Political Science and Law and Shanghai Corporate Counsel Association.
On this occasion, the Hong Kong Bar signed a cooperative agreement with the Shanghai Bar Association to further mutual support and cooperation, and strengthen mutual exchange. A signing ceremony was also held for seven law firms in Shanghai to engage Hong Kong barristers as legal consultants - a historic step taken by Hong Kong barristers and the mainland lawyers to implement the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA).
Mr Rimsky Yuen SC, Secretary for Justice of Hong Kong SAR, Mr Zhao Dacheng, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, Mr Mr Jiang Ping, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Committee and Secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of CPC Shanghai Committee, and Mr Zhou Hanmin, Standing Committee Member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Vice Chairman of China National Democratic Construction Association, and Vice Chairman of Shanghai Committee of CPPCC were among the guests present at the Forum, joined by more than 300 participants from the judiciary, business and academia.
