Follow-up on the Concluding Observations made by the United Nations
Human Rights Committee after its hearing on the Report of the HKSAR
under the ICCPR

Under Article 2 of the ICCPR, the HKSAR Government is under a treaty
obligation to take the necessary steps and to adopt such measures
as may be necessary to give effect to the rights recognized in the
ICCPR. Being the treaty body entrusted with the authority to ensure
the observance of the ICCPR, the Human Rights Committee has expressed
its concern on various areas which fall short of the requirements
of the ICCPR through it Concluding Observations on the 5th
Periodic Report of the HKSAR. The Bar supports these recommendations
and urge the Government of the HKSAR to implement these recommendations
as soon as possible.
