Closure Of The Bar Chambers

It is with much regret that the Bar Council informs members of its resolution to close the Bar Chambers. Members are assured that such decision was not made lightly. The Bar Chambers has, since the departure of the last licensee in mid December 2004, remained unoccupied. This year, the Bar Secretariat has not received any inquiry about the Bar Chambers. A recent survey conducted by the Young Barristers Committee projected no or no sufficient demand for the Bar Chambers within the relevant sector of the Bar.

The Bar Council would like to take this opportunity to thank members for their kind and generous support for this cause.

37th Anniversary Gala Dinner - 17 June 2005

Members are reminded of Circular No.035/05 regarding the captioned fund-raising dinner hosted by The Hong Kong Journalist Association on Friday, 17 June 2005 at the Inter-Continental Hotel.

The Hong Kong Bar Association has reserved a table for 12. The cost per head is HK$1,566.70. 6 seats are still available. Members who wish to join the Bar’s table are requested to send a crossed cheque payable to the “Hong Kong Journalists Association” for the appropriate amount and forward it to the Bar Secretariat for the attention of Rani Romani by 6 June 2005.
