THE ROLE OF THE 21ST CENTURY JUDGE:
RESPONDING TO THE CHALLENGES OF A CHANGING WORLD
Members are invited to attend the above-mentioned public lecture by Hilary Heilbron, QC on 21 October, 2004.
Hilary Heilbron, QC, is widely acknowledged as an expert on commercial law
and international arbitration and is also an experienced arbitrator. She is
currently in full-time practice as a Queen's Counsel in England. She is also
a Deputy High Court Judge and Senior Counsel in New South Wales, Australia.
The lecture will highlight the challenges the modern judge faces in developing
the law, including the issues that brings the judiciary into conflict with the
state and the executive and issues of public policy.
