17TH ICCA INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CONFERENCE
16 - 18 MAY 2004, BEIJING
Further to our circular no. 020/04, members are reminded of the
three-day International Arbitration Conference that is due to take place in
China World Hotel, Beijing from 16 - 18 May 2004. The conference, carrying
the theme "New Horizon in International commercial Arbitration and Beyond",
will cover a wide variety of arbitration issues and topics.
The International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), founded in 1969,
is the leading worldwide organization devoted to promoting international arbitration
and other forms of dispute resolution.
The Conference will be of interest to all those involved in international commercial arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, in particular arbitrators, conciliators, lawyers with an international client base, in-house counsels, managers of dispute resolution bodies and academics.
Given the increasing interest and application of arbitration in dispute resolution, the Bar Council would encourage members to participate in this conference.

11TH LAWASIA ENERGY CONFERENCE
SEOUL, KOREA, 22 - 25 JUNE 2004

PUBLIC LECTURE ON PRODUCT DESIGN IN THE DIGITAL AGE:
BALANCING TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION AND IP RIGHT

The Intellectual Property Department (IPD) is organizing the captioned lecture by Mr. Thomas C. Rubin, Associate General Counsel, Microsoft Corp, Washington, to be held on Wednesday, 13 May 2004 from 1 - 2:30 pm at IPD Function Room 2501, 25/F, Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong
The lecture will focus on balancing the competing interests of innovating technologically, meeting consumer expectation and respecting content owners' IP rights.
