BAR CIRCULARS VIA MASS E-MAIL

Recently some members have encountered problems in receiving e-mail copies of the Bar Circulars sent from rani@hkba.org. Preliminary investigations have been conducted and it shows that this may often be caused by additional security measures taken by members themselves, such as the installation of spam filters, and the blocking of bulk or unknown email by members' Internet Service Provider ("ISP").

Members receiving circulars by e-mail are therefore advised to check that their own settings and the filters applied by their ISP to recognize and permit the receipt and downloading of all e-mail from our domain name, namely, hkba.org to their servers and destination computers.

The normal routine is that Bar Circulars are sent out regularly once a week, on Tuesday or Wednesday. If there is any problem of non-delivery of a Bar Circular sent by email, please let Rani of the Bar Secretariat know so that an extra copy may be sent. We appreciate that the system can only work if there is nothing wrong from both ends so please ask your secretary to see whether there is any problem such as mentioned above in case you encounter any problem of receipt of e-mails from the Bar Secretariat.

Bar Circulars are also uploaded to the Bar's website www.hkba.org. Members can view for themselves in the "Members" section.

The Bar Secretariat encourages members to accept receipt of Bar Circulars by e-mail as this is intended to save both time and costs (and trees).
