BAR SCHOLARS OF 2003

Ten applications for the Bar Scholarship were received this year. On the recommendation of the Bar Scholarship Committee chaired by the Honourable Chief Justice, with the Honourable Mr. Justice Ribeiro, Mr. Gary Plowman, SC, Mr. Warren Chan, SC and Ms. Po Wing Kay, the Bar Council has resolved to award four scholarships to Miss Eva Sit, Mr. Abraham Chan, Miss Sara Tong and Mr. Derek Chan who will be joining the Bar.

The Bar Scholars will each receive an award of HK$200,000.00, half of the amount will be paid upon the commencement of their pupillage and the balance after the completion of 6 months' pupillage.
Donors to the various funds for new entrants to the Bar will be invited to the presentation ceremony and reception in due course.

HONG KONG BAR ASSOCIATION - CHARLES CHING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Four applications for the Charles Ching Memorial Scholarship were received this year. On the recommendation of the Charles Ching Scholarship Committee comprising the Hon. Justice Mr. Sakhrani (chairman), Mr. Patrick Fung, SC and Ms. Adriana Ching, the Committee has resolved to award two scholarships to Miss Sara Tong and Mr. Calvin Cheuk who will undergo advocacy training and pupillage in the United Kingdom.

The Charles Ching Scholars will each receive an award of HK$50,000.00 to cover air fares to and from London and small amount of subsidy for living expenses.

CENTRE FOR CRIMINOLOGY
THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG

The University of Hong Kong is organizing a 5-day Certificate Workshop and Training course on "Analytic Interviewing" from 22 - 26 September and 29 - 3 October 2003 at the University of Hong Kong.

The course will cover many topics such as:

(a) What is Analytic Interviewing?
(b) What are the benefits of Analytic Interviewing?
(c) What are the aims of the Analytic Interviewing training course?
(d) Who will benefit from Analytic Interviewing training course?
