EXCHANGE TOUR TO GUANGZHOU, 17-19 AUGUST 2003
ORGANISED BY HONG KONG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
We have been informed that, in connection with CEPA, the Hong Kong College of Technology is organizing a tour to Guangzhou from 17 to 19 August 2003 with the financial support from the Business and Services Promotion Unit of the CITB of HKSAR, with a view to exploring the details of CEPA and how professional bodies can benefit most from it through meeting with the Mainland officials. Their first exchange tour was held on 27-29 July 2003. Program of this second tour mainly consists of visits to certain infrastructural projects which are under development and meeting with government officials of the Guangdong Province. The Hon TAM Yiu-chung, GBS, JP will also be present during the two-day tour. There is a fee of approximately HK$1,200 (including tips to the tour guide and hotel room rate on sharing room basis). Program of the event is available at the Bar Secretariat. LISTING AND HEARING OF LEGAL AID APPEALS
Members will find under this cover a copy of the Memorandum of Understanding in respect of Hearing of Legal Aid Appeals issued by the Registrar which was mutually agreed by the Law Society, the Legal Aid Department, the Judiciary, the Registrar and the Bar.

RULES OF THE HIGH COURT (AMENDMENT) RULES (REPEAL RULES) 2003
The Judiciary Administrator has written to inform members that the Rules of the High Court (Amendment) Rules (Repeal Rules) 2003 ("Repeal Rules") (Annex A) was gazetted on 1 August 2003 and will take immediate effect. The purpose of the Repeal Rules is to repeal the Rules of the High Court (Amendment) Rules 2003 (LN 157 of 2003) (Annex B).
Please find enclosed a copy of those annexes.
