POST FOR ADMINISTRATOR OF THE HONG KONG BAR ASSOCIATION
The Hong Kong Bar Association invites applications from experienced candidates to take up the full-time post of the Administrator ("Administrator"). This post is the head of the Bar Secretariat and is expected to provide professional and administrative support for the Bar Council and members of the Association.
The ideal candidate should:
- Have a Bachelor of Laws degree from a common law jurisdiction or its equivalent with good administrative experience or have not less than 4 years' post qualification experience practising as a solicitor or a barrister (whether in Hong Kong or overseas).
- Be proactive, mature, enthusiastic and able to work independently without any supervision.
- Possess excellent communication skills and good organization powers.
- Possess excellent English language skills and fluent Chinese language skills (written and spoken). Ability to speak Putonghua would be an advantage.
Responsibilities of the Administrator will include:
- running the Bar Secretariat ;
- serving the Bar Council at its meetings as secretary and to implement decisions
arising thereof ;
- supporting the Bar Council on admission, pupillage, disciplinary and other
matters for the administration of the general membership of the Association;
- managing the properties and resources of the Bar Association;
- liaising and maintaining a good relationship with members and other organizations;
- carrying out duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Bar Council
to him or her from time to time.
The job is highly challenging and the exposure it brings is invaluable.
